Emerald Green, Mineral Green Exhibition Guide
Emerald Green, Mineral Green Exhibition Guide
House Guests, launched in 2023, is an intervention exhibition series that invites artists, designers and makers to engage in dialogue with the extraordinary interiors and rich history of 186 Gwydir Street, Cambridge. Exploring the intersection of past and present, contemporary artworks find their temporary home within the historic walls of David Parr House.
This intimate conversation begins with the occupants of 186: their histories, narratives and the home they occupied. It is a conversation between historical and contemporary creative expression and celebrates the domestic space as a vessel for storytelling, intergenerational connection and artistic practice.
The invited artists of "Emerald Green, Mineral Green" respond to the idea of 'green', reflecting on our relationship with the natural world across scales both global and domestic, personal and collective. They explore how we craft from natural materials and draw inspiration from nature's many forms and features, seek solace within it, yet often act in conflict with it. Collectively, they encourage us to consider the delicate balance of our co-existence with nature – and importantly, how we might better protect, respectfully co-exist and nurture it for the future.
Designed by Calverts, a London-based design and printing co-operative, the exhibition publication is printed in full colour and includes a map of the exhibition along with information about each artist.
