Tadek Beutlich: Innovations in Textile and Print by Emma Mason
Tadek Beutlich (1922-2011) a pioneering textiles artist, printmaker and teacher. He is known as a weaver of extraordinary tapestries and innovative off the loom textile constructions. He also produced striking relief prints, which he printed without a press.
Originally from Poland, Beutlich studied at art school in Poznan and later in Germany and Italy. After the Second World War he studied in London, graduating in textiles from Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts in 1950. He then taught at Camberwell for many years. Beutlich wrote about his craft in his book, The Technique of Woven Tapestry published in 1967. He exhibited internationally and his work is held in many public collections worldwide including the V&A Museum, Tate and the Government Art Collection.
