Deborah Bowness is an award-winning independent artist, wallpaper maker and print designer internationally recognised for her innovative trompe l’oeil designs. Born in Yorkshire and a graduate of the MA Mixed Media course at the Royal College of Art, Deborah has spent more than 26 years creating, exhibiting and installing large-scale wallpaper artworks in private, commercial and public spaces internationally. In 2000, she established The Print Room in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, producing bespoke hand screen-printed wallpapers and limited-edition prints. Her work is held in collections worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
‘My work explores the creative potential of everyday objects and the stories they hold, drawing attention to the overlooked and rethinking the ordinary. Using wallpaper and trompe l’oeil techniques, I capture fleeting moments of daily life and present them in visually engaging, immersive ways that alter how we see and value familiar surroundings, examining the relationship between people and place’.
