Mansi Shouche

Mansi Shouche

Originally from Mumbai, Mansi Shouche has made Cambridge her home for the past twenty years. Her art is deeply intertwined with her personal journey, driven by ongoing philosophical and spiritual explorations.

Mansi’s work is grounded in the themes of land and nature, where she investigates identity, culture, ecology, science, memories, and the connections that bind them. Her inquiries often extend beyond the human experience to encompass the "more-than-human," exploring relationships with both animate and inanimate entities. Mansi’s practice also embraces community engagement, whether through shared gardening projects or exchanges of gifts without monetary value, with a focus on conversation and collective memory.

This week, we had the pleasure of visiting Cambridge-based multimedia artist Mansi Shouche at Anglia Ruskin University. During our time together, we delved into her artistic practice and discussed her initial reaction to the David Parr House, along with an exciting upcoming collaboration.

Next month, Mansi, alongside Stepanka Facerova, will be facilitating workshops for adults (18+) with low vision and blindness in our Visitor Centre. This initiative is generously funded by the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.

Reflecting on her first visit to the house, Mansi shared, "My first impression of the house was complete awe. The fact that somebody has spent their entire life, not just working but also working so intricately on their home. I feel such an outpouring of positive energy that David must have had into all of the beautiful things he created in the house.

It was very beautiful and very inspiring; he was so focused and so immensely hardworking and creative. So really, when I first entered the house, I was in awe."
