He exhibited his work in the three Great Bardfield art exhibitions of 1954, 1955, and 1958. At the first exhibition, he met his future wife, Denise, and they remained in the area for the next twenty years, raising their children, James and Nina.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThroughout his life, Walter balanced his own artistic practice with commercial commissions and teaching. After teaching at St Martin's School of Art and the Central School of Art, he joined Cambridge School of Art in 1964, where he taught printmaking until his retirement in 1984.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFollowing retirement, Walter and Denise moved to Hastings and spent time at their flat in Dieppe.
